The film “Elsinore”, directed by Simon Stone, will bring the 34th edition of the ToruńCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival to a close. The screening will take place on 14 November 2026 at 8:30 PM, immediately following the festival’s Closing Ceremony, at the CKK Jordanki Cultural and Congress Centre in Toruń.
The film features an outstanding cast, including Andrew Scott, Olivia Colman, Joe Locke and Johnny Flynn, who will also be a special guest at this year’s ToruńCAMERIMAGE. The actor will be visiting Toruń for the festival screening of “The Idiots”, giving audiences an opportunity to meet him and the other filmmakers involved in the production.
Set in London in the late 1980s and early 1990s, “Elsinore” tells the story of Ian Charleson (Andrew Scott), an actor at the height of his career, who receives an unexpected offer to play Hamlet at the prestigious National Theatre. It seems that a new and significant chapter in his professional life is about to begin. However, he soon discovers that he has AIDS. The diagnosis casts uncertainty over his plans and dreams, while also marking the beginning of an extraordinary fight to create the performance of a lifetime.
“Elsinore” is a deeply moving story about courage, resilience and the life-affirming power of the human spirit. The film brings to the screen the story of an exceptional artist who, despite facing devastating circumstances, refuses to give up on his ambitions and passion. His struggle becomes a testament to extraordinary determination and to the power of art to give meaning even to the most difficult experiences.
The screening of “Elsinore” will be the final cinematic highlight of this year’s ToruńCAMERIMAGE and a symbolic farewell to the festival audience after eight days of celebrating cinema, its creators and lovers of the moving image.
