Atlantic City police officer Rick Santoro experiences more than one surprise after an important politician is shot dead in his presence during a boxing fight. Director Brian De Palma and cinematographer Stephen H. Burum surprise the audience with the dynamism of the story. The camera moves almost constantly, and in the opening scene, around 12 minutes of the film are filled with an elaborate Steadicam mastershot. This shot has gone down in the cinema history.
