East Berlin, summer of 1989, a few months before the fall of the Berlin Wall. When a photo of 18-year-old Suzie hits the cover of East German women’s magazine “Sibylle” (the “Vogue of the East”, as it was called), the girl makes a stunning entry into the colorful world of fashion. She soon learns, however, that success has its price. After all, in a socialist state, nothing can be apolitical and escape the attention of the security service. The film is based on real experience from the life of its director Aelrun Goette.
