Turbulent history of 20th and 21st century will be a background for stories showed on Friday - the last day of Camerimage competitions.
We will be observing stories of 20th century America in film's interpretation of Edward Hopper's paintings - Austrian film from the Main Competition - Shirley - Visions of Reality. This art & cinema dialogue is a story of a women, whose emotions and reflections led us across contestant reality.
(10 a.m., Opera Nova, Main Screening Room)
Cinematographer Jerzy Palacz and director Gustav Deutsch will invite audience to the screening and afterwards will be guests at press conference that will be held in the Conference Room on the 3rd floor of Opera Nova.
Winner of eleven Czech Golden Lions - In the Shadow made by David Ondricek, with Adam's Sikora cinematography, is a film nominated in Polish Film Competition. Dark cards of Stalinist terror in Czech are woven into criminal story.

Adam Sikora will meet the audience immediately after the screening at Conference Room (3rd Floor).
The methods used by Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus nowadays are similar to those in Stalin regime period. Inspired by 2009 events - Viva Belarus! is a film directed by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz. Principals fight for love, freedom and music. But the authorities do not like this rebellious attitude...

Press conference with director and cinematographer Witold Stok will take place just after the film, and before that filmmakers will invite audience to the screening.
At 2:15 p.m. we are inviting to the journey through Helsinki. Concrete Night by Pirjoi Honksalo touches upon not only heart of a concrete jungle in the capital of Finland. It is also a story about self-searching.

Competition rivalry will end with Ida - subtle and sublime road film. Two different women with two different characters, lifestyles, experiences and beliefs confront with difficult history. Black-and-white picture directed by Paweł Pawlikowski was awarded in London and at Warsaw Film Festival. Moreover, Łukasz Żal's cinematography was appreciated by film critics.
Friday is the last chance to participate in industrial workshops. At 11 a.m. Arri workshops entitled: A Guide to Handheld Camera Operating will be led by Sean Bobbitt (Workshops Centre - University of Economy, Building M). At 2 p.m. editing workshop PSM will take place in MCK (Eagle Cinema), and at 4:30 p.m. in Canon Workhops will be held with special guest - Filip Kovcin - director, editor and founder of the prestigious FilmPRO magazine and website (Opera Nova, Seminar Room).
Meetings with stars and filmmakers are integral part of every day at Camerimage. On Friday we invite to the meeting with Polish director Lech Majewski (6 p.m. MCK). We will also have an opportunity to meet Jim Sheridan, the receiver of this-year's Lifetime Achievement Award for Director, who will be the guest in Conference Room at 6:30.

During Master Class with Samuel Bayer, who is receiving Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Music Videos, we will certainly find about his work on the videos for artists such as Nirvana, The Rolling Stones or David Bowie. It is a must for those, who cannot imagine music without an image.
