SPECIAL AWARDS:
THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ROBBY MÜLLER KRZYSZTOF KIEŚLOWSKI AWARD JULIA ORMOND DUO AWARD: CINEMATOGRAPHER - DIRECTOR: this year, the award granted for many years for the most outstanding partnerships between cinematographers and directors, was given to wonderful German creators of such films as Run, Lola, Run, The Princess and the Warrior, Heaven, and, most recently, Perfume: The Story of the Murderer, cinematographer FRANK GRIEBE and director TOM TYKWER. LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO THE DIRECTOR WITH UNIQUE VISUAL SENSITIVITY: award granted to the most outstanding English film director, author of such movies as Women in Love, Devils or Altered States - KEN RUSSELL. SPECIAL AWARD TO THE DIRECTOR WITH UNIQUE VISUAL SENSITIVITY: this year's award was granted to the marvellous Hungarian director, creator of Sunshine, Meeting Venus, Mephisto or Colonel Redl among others - ISTVAN SZÁBÓ. In 2000 the same award was granted to WIM WENDERS who collected it during Camerimage 2006 Closing Ceremony. SPECIAL AWARD TO THE POLISH CINEMATOGRAPHER FOR IMMENSE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ART OF FILM: Camerimage Festival organizers awarded the most highly valued Polish cinematographer, ANDRZEJ BARTKOWIAK, who is a member of American Society of Cinematographers and works permanently in Hollywood. He was a long-time collaborator of director Sidney Lumet, and their The Verdict was an Oscar nominee. During this collaboration, Bartkowiak established his reputation both for urban compositions and indoor shoots. He is also the author of cinematography to such famous films as Terms of Endearment, Speed, The Devil's Advocate and Thirteen Days. LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO THE PRODUCTION DESIGNER WITH UNIQUE VISUAL SENSITIVITY: during last edition of the Festival, there were many discussions concerning the participation of other filmmakers (beside the cinematographers) in a process of the film image creation. As it was pointed out, it is a production designer who contributes the most to the cinematographer's success. CAMERIMAGE organizers plan to grant the most outstanding production designers with the special award starting from this year's edition of the Festival. This year's Laureate of the Award is DANTE FERRETTI. He is a production designer with such film credits as: La Citta Delle Donne, The Name of the Rose, The Age of Innocence, The Gangs of New York, The Aviator and The Black Dahlia among others. Within the period of 40 years of his career he collaborated with such directors as Pier Paolo Pasolini, Federico Fellini, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Martin Scorsese and Brian De Palma. AWARD TO THE PRODUCTION DESIGNER WITH SPECIAL VISUAL SENSITIVITY: second award to production designer will be granted to younger colleague of Dante Ferretti, JOHN MYHRE, who is an author of set design to Anna Karenina, Chicago and MemoHONORARY PATRONAGE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND ANDRZEJ DUDA
